About

I came to New York City a little over four years ago, with no plans to stay that long.  It is an amazing place, and the work I have done here has been interesting, but it is time to move on.

On March 21, 2021 a little under a years from now, and with no set destination, I shall load up Sweetpea, my bicycle,  and hit the road.  Along with the usual bicycle touring gear, tent, sleeping bag etc… I will be hauling a little trailer that will contain my wet plate photographic equipment.

The plan itself is simple.  The mornings will start with a simple breakfast of oats, or the occasional fried egg, and bacon.  Tent, and gear will be struck, packed, and loaded onto Sweetpea, and then it is back on the road.  When something catches my eye I will stop, set up my camera, and darkroom equipment, and proceed to create a tintype.  That done, it is back on the road.  A nice little lunch. Perhaps some cheese a little salami, and an apple.   On the road again keeping my eyes open for another image to capture.  As the day begins to close I will start looking for a secluded spot for the night.  The tent will be set, and the sleeping bag will be unrolled.  Dinner will be prepared, and after everything is washed, and stowed I will read for a bit, make my journal entry, and then bed.

With slight variations this is my plan for the next 10, 15, 20? years.  I will be much like the itinerant photographers of ages past.  Stopping in small towns, and villages, setting up my studio, and taking portrait photos.  A reasonable donation will be suggested, and when my coffers are sufficiently filled it will be time for me to move on.
